As the New York Giants navigate their journey toward the playoffs, one player's efforts have progressively stood out—second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt's. Hyatt has seamlessly integrated himself as a pivotal asset, continually proving his worth on the field.
Standing at an athletic 6 feet tall and weighing in at 185 pounds, Hyatt has faced a unique challenge. In the rigorous world of the NFL, maintaining and gaining weight is essential for endurance and performance. Hyatt acknowledges the personal challenge of packing on those extra pounds: "It's definitely hard for myself to gain weight. Some guys, it's easier for them to gain weight or gain muscle. For myself, it's harder. I burn a lot of calories quick. I'm just one of those guys that's got to just keep eating."
To address this challenge, Hyatt has incorporated an unconventional yet effective component into his diet—Uncrustables, the popular frozen, individually wrapped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. “PB&J's was one of my biggest things,” Hyatt explains. “You want to eat your full meal. You don't want to eat a little bit and drink a protein shake. Then you're not really getting anything. So, for myself, finishing, completing your full meals, and then, an hour later or 30 minutes later, that's when you put in an Uncrustables or a PB&J or a little protein shake.”
Hyatt, a third-round pick out of Tennessee, has strived to make significant contributions to the Giants' season. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, with standout moments becoming highlights of key games. In Week 2 of the 2023 season, Hyatt made a 58-yard reception that proved pivotal in the Giants' narrow three-point victory over the Cardinals. His performance didn't stop there. By Week 7, Hyatt recorded two catches for 75 yards, marking a significant contribution to New York's 14-7 win over the Commanders.
But perhaps his most memorable contribution came in Week 12, where he achieved his first 100-yard receiving game in the NFL. Hyatt played a crucial role in the Giants' tight victory over the Patriots, solidifying his reputation as a reliable and indispensable member of the team.
Hyatt's aspirations extend beyond personal achievements. "For me, I always set high expectations," he shares, reflecting on his goals. "Just looking at our team, looking at what we got—for goals, I just want a team goal. We have a playoff team. That's what we want to do. That's our focus and we're gonna get there."
His dedication to his craft, both on and off the field, is evident. With a unique diet strategy and a relentless drive to succeed, Jalin Hyatt embodies the spirit of perseverance. As the Giants aim for postseason success, Hyatt's continuing contributions will undoubtedly be a focal point for the team and fans alike.
