Euro 2024: Preview, Venues, Schedule, and More

Euro 2024 is upon us as the best teams in Europe square off to determine who will be crowned kings of the continent. Italy are the reigning champions, but nations like England, France, Spain, and Portugal hope to have something to say. Host nation Germany cannot be counted out, either.

The action began on June 14 and will conclude on July 14 with the final. Many of the world's top players will feature this summer, such as France's Kylian Mbappe and England's Jude Bellingham. Smaller nations like Georgia and Albania hope to spring some surprises as well. In total, 16 of the 24 teams in the group stage will advance to the knockout stages.

Venues

A total of 24 teams will compete across ten German cities in the 17th edition of the competition. The venues have been renamed by UEFA specifically for this event.

Arena AufSchalke, Cologne Stadium, Waldstadion, and Leipzig Stadium will host games up until the Round of 16. Specifically, games will be played at Gelsenkirchen's Veltins-Arena (Schalke 04), Cologne's RheinEnergieStadion (FC Köln), Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Leipzig's Red Bull Arena (RB Leipzig).

Stuttgart Arena, Volksparkstadion, and Düsseldorf Arena will host games up until the quarterfinals. These matches will be played at Stuttgart's MHPArena (VfB Stuttgart), Hamburg's Volksparkstadion (Hamburger SV), and Düsseldorf's Merkur Spiel-Arena (Fortuna Düsseldorf).

Fußball Arena München and BVB Stadion Dortmund will host games up until the semifinals. These games will be played at Munich's Allianz Arena (Bayern Munich) and Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park (Borussia Dortmund).

Olympiastadion will host games up until the final. The decisive matches will be played at Berlin's Olympiastadion (Hertha BSC).

Group Stage Standings and Schedule

Group A

Germany has taken an early lead with a 5-1 victory over Scotland. Hungary is set to play against Switzerland on June 15 at 9 a.m. Germany will face Hungary on June 19 at 12 p.m. on FS1, while Scotland will face Switzerland later that same day at 3 p.m. on Fox.

The group stage will conclude with Switzerland vs. Germany and Scotland vs. Hungary on June 23 at 3 p.m. The first match will air on Fox, and the latter on FS1.

Group B

In Group B, Spain will take on Croatia on June 15 at 12 p.m. on Fox, followed by Italy vs. Albania at 3 p.m. on the same day. The next set of matches sees Croatia facing Albania on June 19 at 9 a.m. on FS1, and Spain against Italy on June 20 at 3 p.m. on Fox.

To close the group stage, Albania will play Spain on June 24 at 3 p.m. on FS1, while Croatia will battle Italy at the same time on Fox.

Group C

Group C kicks off with Slovenia vs. Denmark on June 16 at 12 p.m. on FS1, followed by Serbia vs. England at 3 p.m. on Fox. Slovenia will then go head-to-head with Serbia on June 20 at 9 a.m. on FS1, and Denmark will face England on the same day at 3 p.m. on FS1.

The group stage concludes with England vs. Slovenia and Denmark vs. Serbia on June 25 at 3 p.m. The former will be broadcast on Fox and the latter on FS1.

Group D

In Group D, Poland will face the Netherlands on June 16 at 9 a.m. on FS1. Austria will play against France on June 17 at 3 p.m. on Fox. The subsequent matches include Poland vs. Austria on June 21 at 12 p.m. on FS1, and the Netherlands vs. France at 3 p.m. on Fox the same day.

The final set of group matches sees the Netherlands facing Austria and France playing Poland on June 25 at 12 p.m. The Netherlands’ match will air on FS1, and France’s will be on Fox.

Group E

Romania will play Ukraine on June 17 at 9 a.m. Belgium will then face Slovakia on June 17 at 12 p.m. on FS1. Following that, Slovakia will go up against Ukraine on June 21 at 9 a.m., and Belgium will face Romania on June 22 at 3 p.m. on Fox.

The last matches in this group will be Slovakia vs. Romania and Ukraine vs. Belgium, both on June 26 at 12 p.m. The first match airs on FS1 and the latter on Fox.

Group F

Group F sees Turkey taking on Georgia on June 18 at 12 p.m., followed by Portugal vs. Czechia at 3 p.m. on Fox. Georgia will then face Czechia on June 22 at 9 a.m. Turkey will play against Portugal the same day at 12 p.m. on Fox.

The group stage ends with Georgia vs. Portugal and Czechia vs. Turkey on June 26 at 3 p.m. Georgia's match will air on Fox and Czechia's on FS1.

Knockout Stage Schedule

Round of 16

As the group stage concludes, we move on to the knockout stage. The Round of 16 will see 2nd place in Group A face 2nd place in Group B on June 29 at 12 p.m. on FS1. The 1st place team in Group A will play against the 2nd place team in Group C at 3 p.m. on Fox the same day.

The following day, June 30, will feature the 1st place team in Group C against a 3rd place team from Group D, E, or F at 12 p.m. on Fox. Additionally, the 1st place team in Group B will face a 3rd place team from Group A, D, E, or F at 3 p.m. on Fox.

The next matches for the Round of 16 will take place on July 1. The 2nd place team in Group D meets the 2nd place team in Group E at 12 p.m. on FS1, while the 1st place team in Group F will play against a 3rd place team from Group A, B, or C at 3 p.m. on Fox.

The final day of the Round of 16 on July 2 sees the 1st place team in Group E face a 3rd place team from Group A, B, C, or D at 12 p.m. on FS1, and the 1st place team in Group D against the 2nd place team in Group F at 3 p.m. on Fox.

Quarterfinals

The quarterfinals will be held on July 5 and 6. Each day will feature two matches, with the first starting at 12 p.m. and the second at 3 p.m. All quarterfinal matches will be broadcast on Fox.

Semifinals

The semifinals are set to take place on July 9 and 10, with both matches kicking off at 3 p.m. and airing on Fox.

Final

The grand finale of Euro 2024 will be contested on July 14 at 3 p.m. on Fox, where the two remaining teams will vie for the prestigious title of European champions.
